I have left Negative feedback for this item not because of the product, that arrived promptly as promised but because I am sick off Sellers ripping EBayers off with inflated postage costs.

This one took the biscuit though, the postage cost NOTHING, yet I was charged £9.99 for postage.

The PS2 cost me £98.99 + £9.99 p&p. The seller got it from Amazon for £95 post free (my stupid fault for not looking there). It would have been fine if he had got it delivered from Amazon and then posted it to me BUT he ordered it from Amazon and got them to send it directly to me.

I am not bothered by paying £4 more than Amazon as I chose to buy it from him but to charge me £10 postage when it did not cost him anything is out of order and against EBay regulations - “A posting and handling fee can cover only the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item.”

Seeing as he did none of the points I asked for the postage cost to be reimbursed.

Here is the correspondence I sent/received from him unabridged.

He mentions that it is standard practice to make more profit?

My 2p as this is the first negative feedback I have left, I paid for this promptly 24 hours after getting confirmation with Paypal. I love the last comment….

Cheers

Andy

Dear 321puma,

Hi, received the PS2 OK.

I am however not happy that you have charged £9.99 postage on something that comes DELIVERY FREE direct from Amazon, which is what you have done. I don't mind the fact that you have made £4.99 profit on top of the price that Amazon have charged you but to charge me for postage that you have never paid is wrong. Amazon have confirmed this and I wish a refund of the £9.99 to my paypal account. I am giving you this chance before I leave negative feedback. It is against EBay trading policy to fraudulently charge delivery costs. See -> http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/community/png-list.html

Although some users try to say that it covers packaging and mileage to the post office etc that is not the case for this item as it has come DIRECT from Amazon at no cost to you. Please reply within 24 hours or I shall be forced to take the matter up with EBay and Trading Standards.

Thanks

Andy MacRae

I suggest you look at 80% of items sold on ebay as Brand new, I Know you will find that they are obtained in the same way and most are sold for a lot more + £15 postage. It’s the way of business... Amazon sells the item at additional cost to me from what they are charged by their suppliers and likewise I have offered the item to you at a price you agreed to pay. If you weren't happy with the price you were going to pay why buy it. Would you complain if you bought an item in a shop only to find a week later the same in a different shop was £20 cheaper?? Do as you wish but if you complain about me be prepared to complain about 1000's of ebayers who do the same of which ebay must know about because they are the power sellers that provide ebay with the profits they make by charging £12.10 for auction fees, £4.12 per item Final Value fee and £3.45 Paypal fee per item. Who really makes the most money and stands to loose the most EBAY?

Thanks for your email; your further views will be answered.

It is the fact that you charged £10 for postage and packing when it was free. You did not add that onto the price, you put it down as POSTAGE. This is the problem that I have. Of course I can assume that you did that so the price looked more attractive. If you put it down as £110 buy it now inc free postage then that would have been fine, I would have paid for £15 more than Amazon charged for it but I would have been making an informed purchase.

I do not care about the other “80%” of items on EBay, I am complaining about this one because it involved myself. You are in violation of EBay regulations, blatantly! I would not have minded if the postage actually was paid for by yourself but it was not!

2. Posting and Handling: Sellers may add a reasonable posting and handling fee to the final price of their item, providing that this fee is disclosed up front in the listing. A posting and handling fee can cover only the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Posting and handling fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price.

I hope you understand why I am annoyed that you charged me for postage when it cost you nothing. I therefore would like you to credit my Paypal account with £9.99
